PURE STAINLESS 64, being largely inert (99 % Argon & Helium.) is an asphyxiant and must not be breathed.
The Helium allows better heat transfer and is suitable for a wide range of thicknesses and produces a stable arc which allows greater penetration without spatter.
Helium addition to argon increases the arc energy when welding non-ferrous materials as does Helium addition to argon-oxygen affect the arc with the GMAW process on ferrous materials. To improve puddle fluidity and bead shape and reduce porosity, Argon, Helium with Oxygen mixtures can be used for spray arc welding and surfacing low alloy and stainless steels.

Product overview
PURE Stainless 64 is a mixture of 64% Argon with 1% Oxygen with balance being Helium.

Hazards
PURE STAINLESS 64, being 99% Argon & Helium, for all intents & purposes behaves as an inert gas if breathed, so it is effectively an asphyxiant.
In confined poorly ventilated spaces, if allowed to build up and displace the air being breathed, will in high concentrations cause asphyxiation.
Initial symptoms include loss of mobility followed by loss of consciousness.
The affected person will most likely neither sense nor be aware of this which makes it essential that such a situation is to be avoided.
It is however non-toxic and non-flammable.
